UPDATE

2012.09.30 : Who'd have thought I'd revive this thing over 7 years later?
It's back up again with updated photos taken in 2006.
2005.03.03 : Site up and running! Just one page, no frames, kept simple.
Some parts still under construction...

  • 1/100 HG Sword Strike [Completed 2003.08.01]

My first model. Not the first time I've ever used an airbrush, but it was a low quality brush so paint spattered. I attempted to shade it according to pictures on the manual, but I only succeeded in splattering it with black and blue here and there. Not so bad, but not so good either. As I had a very limited color selection at the time, the blues for the midsection as well as the sword pack are too purple and don't correspond at all. I plan to repaint that sometime. I didn't think to not use the stickers, so I also have the ugly stickers on it. The pen I used for detailing was too thick, so all the panel lines are more filled in rather than outlined...

    1/100 HG Freedom [Completed 2003.12.29]

    Second model I've ever done- after the test drive that was Sword Strike, I got a lot more used to airbrushing. Still using the bad airbrush, but a lot more careful. I tried to handpaint what parts I could, like panels, feet and guns, but I didn't know that the wings only came in one color, and so only after assembling + stickers did I decide I wanted to paint them instead. I tried to take the wing apart and one of the outer gun ones snapped at the joint ;_; so I had to use superglue and now one gun can't point forward T_T;;;
I applied some of the decals from an old issue of Newtype. Though I don't dig the blue/green wavy pattern decals, all the other ones are cool. There's some crazy miniscule ones, like one that says Kira Yamato on the neck.

    1/100 HG Aegis [Completed 2004.12.2]

This Gundam is SO. PINK. After finding the right color combination to mix, relatively easy to paint, but once assembled, a big braincramp to try to transform O_O I literally sat there for an hour trying to figure out which parts were supposed to rotate or not. It didn't help that every time I tried to manipulate it, the legs would fall off. The joints are a big weak and the side panels/shield are heavy, so it falls apart quite easily. I like it better just standing anyway...

    1/100 HG Justice [Completed 2004.12.25]

Unless you have Justice Gundam Color, this kit is a pain in the ass to find a decent color for. The actual color of the flush isn't what it's supposed to be, and the mixing guide gives you a horrendously pink shade. I went for a healthy balance of something closer to the flush. I only had Tamiya and not Gunze Sangyou, but pink, purple, red, white, and a bit of black is perfect. The kit also doesn't come in nearly as many colors as you might want it to. There are yellow/white stickers for the flyer pack (which look terrible) and the stickers only come for the top side of the wings! The stickers are fairly crappy, so I had to mask off MANY many parts to get it looking right. They sacrificed the gun sticker too- so if you don't handpaint the maroon ribbon on the gun, it stays all white and looks fairly bad standing next to Freedom. So lots of mixing, masking, and handpainting for this baby required.

1/100 HG Aile Strike [Completed 2005.01.10]

After my first Strike, I thought I never wanted to make another Strike again- but then I saw how crappy my first strike was, and how naked it looked without the Aile pack. Some masking on the aile pack wings is required (because once again the stickers only cover the visible side) and I handpainted the insides of pack grey. I hit the chest with a nicer blue than the first Strike, so this is a great improvement from my first attempt.

1/144 ZGMF-1000 Zaku Warrior Athrun Mode [Completed 2005.03.21]

This kit came absolutely naked of any detail. It came free with the Newtype magazine, so as expected it's a no grade 1/144 with very little articulation. Ishida Akira contributed to the color/designs of this one so I had to give it a go. I tried to follow the magazine example as closely as possible, all in all turned out pretty good. Only the shield and hands needed any masking.

    1/100 HG Providence [Completed 2005.03.24]

This is the model where my airbrush decided to choke and die on me, and so in the middle of spraying the ugly turtle pack I got some lovely spatter. There's a lot of handpainting required on this one to make it look right, like the yellow on the chest parts and red detailing inside exhaust pipes here and there.

1/144 EX Moebius Zero & Skygrasper [Completed 2005.08.20]

This kit's runners come in only 2 colors... orange and white. Which meant masking EVERYTHING. I had to draw fake panel lines freehand, and there was a very liberal use of gunmetal paint. EX kits are very... troublesome. But with a lot of patience, the result is good!

    1/1700 EX Eternal [Completed 2006]

As this is the special finish version, there was no painting or sanding to be done. Just assemble and cement. The box I received actually had a runner missing an entire part, as the plastic injection missed it. Luckily HLJ has fantastic customer service and sent me a replacement runner free of charge. Shiny.

    [ Gundam Seed 1/20 Figures 2005.01.17 ]
Some finished and in-progress photos of the figures that come with the 1/100's. They were quite time consuming and at first, frustrating to paint but it got a lot easier with practice ^_^ Yah, that's the F.A.I.T.H. pin on Athrun. I'm a nerd, sue me. XD
